How to Rejuvenate Dull Skin: 6 Tips for A More Radiant Complexion

Dull skin is a drag, there’s no doubt about it. Sure, switching over to a healthier, cleaner skincare routine can certainly help to give your skin some oomph in the long term but we understand if you’re desperate to see some instant results while you wait!

In today’s post, we want to share our top tips for giving your complexion an instant boost so you can rock a radiant glow no matter how tired or dull your skin may be.

Let's dive in!

Treat yourself to a facial massage

Yes, massaging your own face can be just as relaxing as indulging at the spa!

Apart from how wonderfully relaxing it feels, massage is probably the quickest and easiest way to instantly wake up and revive tired skin.

Massage helps to boost blood circulation, bringing blood flow closer to the surface of the skin for an instant rosy flush and healthy glow. Of course this has many long-term benefits too, making it a win-win for you and for your skin!

By boosting blood flow you help to encourage the production of collagen, a structural protein essential for taut, plump skin. If you massage your skin for even 5 minutes every time you apply your skincare products, you’ll notice smoother, more even-toned skin within a matter of weeks.

It’s also a great way to enhance the absorption of your skin care products.

Here’s a video showing you some tips on how to do it!

Try a honey facial

Honey is a beautiful ingredient, bursting in nutrients to feed your skin with a whole lot of love!

Applying honey to cleansed skin and leaving it on for at least 20 minutes before rinsing off can help to provide an instant radiance boost!

Honey also has antibacterial properties to help prevent blemishes while adding a deep dose of hydration to your skin leaving it soft, smooth and supple.

Here are some more fun DIY recipes you can whip up!

Get sweaty

Another excellent way to enjoy an instant glow is through exercise.

We know, we know, sometimes you simply don’t feel like working out, but you can get sweaty in many different ways!

Dancing has to be one of our favorites! Exercise helps to boost blood flow, which by now you know is excellent for an instant rosy flush while boosting collagen production.

But unlike massage alone, exercise will also help you to release stress and toxins, it’s a great mood booster and anxiety reliever!

So turn on your favorite tunes and get moving!

Try a yoga flow

Yoga is a wonderful way to soothe an anxious mind while boosting blood flow at the same time. The focus is on the breath, and deep breathing has a heap of skin benefits.

In fact, people who practice a deep breathing ritual daily actually look younger!

Deep breathing helps to lower cortisol (your stress hormone) which can wreak havoc on your complexion. It helps to stimulate lymph flow so your body is better able to release toxins that may have manifested as skin woes.

Then there’s the added benefit of boosting your blood flow for instant effects! That glow is all you!

Exfoliate away the dull layers

There’s nothing quite like a good exfoliation to instantly reveal your radiant layers!

Our skin sheds a whopping 30,000 to 40,000 skin cells per hour! Yes, you did read that correctly. It’s all part of our skin’s natural renewal process, but with so many skin cells coming off it may need a little help with this process.

When too many skin cells build up on the skin’s surface before they are cleared away, they may clog up your pores, contributing to pesky blemishes.

Your skin may also appear quite dull and any products you apply will simply cling to old skin cells and not be able to fully absorb into your pores.

Exfoliation will ensure that your skin cells are all properly shed so your radiant layers are revealed!

The result will be smoother, brighter, clearer skin that readily drinks up the nutrients from all your skincare products!

And yes, we're biased but we think our salt scrubs are a pretty good option for this step :)

Eat your way to glowing skin

Okay, so this may not be instant, although some people swear they see a difference in just a few days!

And apparently eating a bowl of blueberries may help your skin to look brighter the very same day!

If your skin is dull and you’re eating processed foods daily, ones that encourage inflammation in your body, then it makes sense that your skin is not at its best.

Filling your body with whole, natural foods is key to improving your health and your skin as your outer appearance reflects your internal state.

A rainbow of fruits and veggies, nuts, seeds, and lots of healthy fats! Healthy fats help to decrease inflammation and will leave your skin positively dewy with radiance! Some of our favorite healthy fats include avocado, fish like salmon and sardines, and chia seeds!

We hope this article has inspired you! We do highly recommend following a clean skincare ritual for long-term benefits; you want your skin to truly glow from health.

By following our advice and these awesome tips you will be well on your way to rocking a luminous complexion, in fact, you can make it happen in the next few minutes no matter how dull your skin may currently appear!
