How To Clear Breakouts Fast Without Using Harmful Drugstore Products

There are loads of products that claim to help clear up your breakout overnight. Can those claims be trusted?

Many conventional acne products are packed with harsh, drying ingredients. They’re designed to dry up your pimples in a jiffy but they’re likely to dry up the rest of your skin too. It’s a short-term solution that might cause more problems for your skin down the road!

In this article, we’ll show you how to get your next breakout under control fast. Because you have things to do! These solutions will also help to ensure your skin stays as clear and healthy as possible in the long-term.

Yes, we’re saying you get to have your cake and eat it, too :)

You deserve good skin every day, not just today or tomorrow!

Keep reading for our top natural tips to say adios to those annoying blemishes while maintaining the health and support of the rest of your skin too.

A Few Simple Things to Start

Hands Off Your Face

Never touch or pick at your breakout. We know firsthand (pun not intended) how hard this can be. But let’s get real, your hands are loaded with bacteria and other gunk. The more you touch it, the worse it may get. That is what we call counterproductive!

Clean Your Cell Phone
Clean your cell phone off with antibacterial wipes. The oil from your face gets on the cell phone, which results in blemishes along the jawline. This can obviously make your breakout worse!

Change Your Pillowcase Weekly

The oils from your face will go into the pillowcase and combine with bacteria and pathogens. We recommend using silk pillowcases as they allow for more glide. Also, try to not sleep on your face because it will cause lines to develop. Sleep on your back (which is what most Hollywood stars do), or sleep on your side with a pillow in between your knees.

Extract Like a Pro

When you extract a zit or blackhead, use two Q-tips or an extractor tool and apply gentle pressure, rolling up. When extracting on the nose or chin, go downward, because the pores on these areas are slanted downward. On the cheeks and forehead, the pores are perpendicular to the skin, so go outwards.

When extracting, never push downward or push too hard.  This will break the sebaceous gland sac and the bad bacteria will spread. Which is why, when you pop one blemish, 10 more will spread around it!

Exfoliate + Cleanse the right way

Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cell build-up that may accumulate in the pores, along with other dirt and debris that may manifest as blemishes.

Of course not all exfoliating scrubs are created equal. If you use one that is too harsh, it may create microscopic tears in your skin. Which puts your skin barrier at risk. No bueno!

We're obviously a little biased, but we recommend our powerful, all-natural Face Cleanser + Exfoliants for this job. Each scent is formulated with ancient sea salt, which sloughs away dead skin and kills the bad bacteria on your skin, and jojoba oil, which adds a soothing dose of hydration to keep your skin perfectly balanced.

Use the scrub as a cleanser at least once per day by following these steps:

  • Wet your face if needed
  • Stir it up
  • Spread a thin layer all over your face
  • Let it sit for up to ten minutes
    • Exfoliate (only once per week)
  • Rinse it off
  • Gently rub in the remaining oil for extra hydration

Be careful not to over-exfoliate! We’ve found that most of our customers only need to exfoliate once per week. Experiment yourself to see what works best.

You may especially love our Calendula Salt Scrub if your skin is giving you issues. Calendula oil has powerful anti-inflammatory properties to help calm the skin and reduce redness while it buffs away old layers.

Avoid acne food triggers

Any food that increases inflammation in your body may cause blackheads and painful pimples that leave you feeling very frustrated.

Dairy and sugar are two top triggers. Other processed or deep-fried foods may be problematic as well.

Sugar actually increases sebum in the skin, which is the last thing you want, especially if you tend to already have oily skin. In fact, sugar may even break down collagen, meaning you will struggle with accelerated aging and skin problems. No thanks!

Dairy can disrupt your hormones and cause those big, deep, painful pimples that like to linger around the jaw, chin and cheeks. A lot of our customers swear by using our Blackhead Removal Mask as a spot treatment for some of the bigger, deeper blemishes.

Many people worry about giving up their favorite comfort foods. We feel you! We’re not saying you have to eliminate these foods completely. Simply start paying attention to how they affect your skin and decide when they’re worth it or not.

You can also check out the many other healthier alternatives. They can be just as delicious without the negative effects on your skin!

For example, try asking for almond milk next time you order your favorite latte. You’ll be amazed at just how creamy it is and you’ll be avoiding dairy completely!

Get sweaty

A good sweaty workout is a great way to flush toxins from your body through your sweat, increase your blood flow for an instant rosy glow, and boost your mood!

It doesn’t matter how you sweat, just get sweaty! Do a quick HIIT workout, go for a run, take a brisk walk, do some yoga, or even use a sauna.

These three tips are fantastic for helping to manage those breakouts fast while ensuring your skin stays happy and healthy in the long-term too!
