7 Natural Remedies for Clogged Pores

Clogged pores are no fun. I think we can all agree, right?

They cause constant breakouts and inflamed skin that you’d rather not deal with! If you aren’t aware of what’s clogging up your pores in the first place, then it’s going to be a little tricky to kiss them goodbye any time soon.

That’s what this article is for! We want to help you identify what could be contributing to your clogged pores so you can finally start to enjoy happy, healthy skin, you deserve nothing less!

So let’s dive right in!

Try and avoid touching your face

We know this one can be tricky, most of the time our hands seem to make their way to our faces without us even realizing.

We absentmindedly pick our pimples or touch our face while we scroll through our social media feeds or read a good book.

By touching your face, you transfer any potential dirt, grime or oil on your hands onto your face, where it can quickly clog up your pores.

Apart from making sure you wash your hands throughout your day, try and simply become more aware of when you do reach for your face. This is a good way to also become more present in the moment, and can actually help to ground you.

Sweat the right way

There’s nothing like a good sweat sesh at the gym to bring on those endorphins so you feel energized all day long!

Exercise also has some excellent skin benefits, from helping to promote an instant rosy glow to aiding in flushing out toxins through your sweat that may have manifested as pesky pimples.

Of course, how you sweat is very important!

You may want to avoid applying your makeup until after your workout (after you've cleansed your skin, of course).

You can also wear a headband to prevent sweat from your hairline causing those annoying forehead blemishes.

Also, be sure to drink loads of water to stay hydrated after sweating!

Exfoliate With Salt Scrub

Cleansing twice a day is essential to remove all traces of dirt, oil, and grime so your pores stay open and happy. If you cleanse more than twice a day, you run the risk of your skin over-producing oil to try and make up for the lack of oil thanks to over washing.

This excess oil clogs up the pores and contributes to blackheads and pimples.

Another major factor of clogged pores is due to using a face wash made with harsh, synthetic ingredients that strip the skin of natural oils, which by now you know only increases your risk of excess sebum, and therefore, clogged pores.

We also recommend exfoliating once per week to slough away dead skin on a regular basis (this may be another contributing factor to clogged pores).

And that's why we created our Salt Scrub/Cleansers. They are a cleanser and exfoliator all-in-one, wonderfully gentle and soothing on inflamed skin, and will help to slough off dead skin so your pores are open and ready to receive nutrients from your follow-up products!

Not sure which scrub is best for you? These recommendations will help :)

Don’t sleep with your makeup on

Don’t even think about it!

We know how easy it is to fall into a nasty habit of hitting the sheets with a full face of makeup, but it’s simply not worth the consequences!

Sleeping with your makeup on, especially on a regular basis, means your pores never have time to take a breather. How can you have clear skin when your pores are constantly occupied?

To make it easy, try using makeup wipes or a soft makeup removal towel

Moisturize With Jojoba Oil

Most of us need to moisturize 1-2 times daily for clear, healthy skin. If you allow your skin to dry out it will always try to make up for the lack of oil on its own, but this often ends up in an oil imbalance that clogs up the pores.

Even better, why not try a facial oil, yes really!

Our wonderful serums are formulated with 100% pure Jojoba oil to fight inflammation and reduce acne-causing bacteria while nourishing your skin and balancing oil production.

Use it after the scrub or other cleanser and/or throughout the day when you skin feels dry.

Try a facial steam once in a while

Who says you have to book an appointment at a swanky salon to enjoy this special step in your facial ritual?

Steaming helps to open up your pores, removing all traces of build-up and it feels wonderfully relaxing! You can fill a bowl with hot, boiled water and add in a lavender tea bag or two, or some essential oils, you can really have fun with it. Dried flowers are also a fun idea. You want to soothe your skin and your mind!

Be sure to let it steam a bit before immediately putting your head over it, you don’t want to burn! Throw a towel over your head to prevent steam from escaping and take nice deep breaths while you steam your face.

Do take breaks when you need to, or if you feel like you are becoming a bit overheated. Steam for at least 10 minutes or more before following up with your products. Your open pores will drink up your skincare ingredients and your skin will feel beautifully soft and refreshed. So will you!

Remove Impurities With Clay

If you’re not using a bentonite clay mask regularly on your skin then you are definitely missing a crucial step in your clear skin ritual!

Our Blackhead Removal Mask includes bentonite clay, along with two other powerful ingredients, that work together to refine and reduce pore size so you can enjoy a beautiful acne-free complexion!

Why not purchase our Beginner Kit, which includes all of the products mentioned in this article!

By following these simple three steps you can ensure you are doing everything you can to have happy, open pores and clear, healthy skin!
