Easily Incorporate These Self-Love Practices Into Your Skincare Routine

Hands up if you find yourself rushing through your skincare routine every morning and evening 🙋‍♀️ 

If this sounds like you, or perhaps you’re asking “what skincare routine?” then our latest post is definitely for you!

When you think of something as a chore then it becomes pretty hard to stick with. Chores are something we like to put off or rush through when we do get around to tackling them. 

Your skincare routine, however, should never be looked at as something you have to do, but rather something you find yourself looking forward to. Something that you know will transform your mood and mind as much as it does your skin with a daily practice. 

We will help you to transform your daily skin care routine into a self-love ritual that will leave you feeling relaxed, happy, and ready to take on your day with ease, as well as drift off blissfully at night. 

So put the kettle on and take some time for yourself for the next few minutes to read our latest post and discover how you can start to transform the way you feel about your skin care ritual.

Let your skincare routine double up as a meditation practice

You may have heard of the benefits of a daily meditation practice however you may feel that you never have the time to sit down and actually follow through. 

What many people don’t realize is that meditation does not have to involve sitting in one spot for hours while chanting "Om" over and over again.

Simply taking a few deep breaths can be considered meditation. Meditation involves focusing on your breath to help quiet your mind and you may decide to set some intentions or focus on positive affirmations while you breathe.

What better time than during your skin care routine to sneak in a few moments of peaceful meditation for yourself?  

For 5 or 10 minutes every morning and evening while you go through your skin care ritual, simply take some nice long deep breaths to keep yourself in the present moment and to help you feel calm and relaxed.

Deep breathing has excellent benefits for your skin as it helps to lower cortisol which can break down collagen and contribute to the signs of aging. It will also leave you feeling so chilled, you might soon find yourself looking forward to every day.

Set an intention

While you go through your skin care ritual in the morning, before your day fully begins, you may decide to set an intention while you wash your face and apply your skin care products.

For example, “I choose to let go of how today unfolds, and live in the present moment” or perhaps it’s something as simple as “I love myself.” 

Take some nice deep breaths while you treat your skin to some love and let your intention naturally come to mind.

This is a wonderful way to start your day, but it’s just as wonderful for ending your day. 

At night you may choose to set an intention for the next day, or perhaps give gratitude for some things that happened in your day.

Create a calming atmosphere 

You aren’t going to feel calm if you do your skincare routine surrounded by clutter or under harsh lights. 

Find a spot that feels clean and calm, and come back to this spot each day. It can simply be in your bathroom or a small area you dedicate to your daily self-love ritual. 

You deserve this time, and you deserve an area that feels peaceful and serene. Light a candle if you’d like, burn some incense, dim the lights. Put your phone aside and dedicate this time to yourself, even if it’s just for a few moments. 

Incorporate all your senses 

Paying attention to your senses as you go through your ritual is an excellent way to ensure you are fully grounded in the present moment; we can quickly sink into anxiety and stress when our minds are busy.  

Brew a comforting cup of herbal tea or grab another beverage of choice, put on some relaxing tunes, light a candle or burn some incense or essential oils that you can inhale throughout your ritual. 

Now pay attention to your surroundings and to your products. What do you see? How do your products feel as you massage them into your skin? 

Really allow yourself to be in the moment, this is time just for you!
